Nyamagabe: Residents commend Associations for women development

Associations are less important until you meet Collette Musengimana, a resident of Masizi cell, Musange sector in Nyamagabe district.


Musengimana is a proud owner of a cow after borrowing Rwf10,000 from an association.


Musengimana narrates that she borrowed money from an association and invested it in small scale business.


“I borrowed Rwf10, 000 and started selling cassava and banana beer. After saving Rwf50, 000 the following decision was to by a cow that I bought with conditions to pay for it in installments,” she says


She says that joining associations helps women borrow money, invest it and make remarkable step in Social-Economic development.


Musengimana reveals that she got another cow worth Rwf18, 000, a goat worth 10,000 in addition to taking care of family needs.


Musengimana advises other women to form credit and saving schemes to enable them develop socially and economically.


Many women in Nyamagabe district have endlessly testified about how cooperatives and associations and working with financial institutions helped them in moving towards better future as they attain economic freedom.


Most women testify that development is all about working together with a focused mind.
