District tightens guidelines for dev’t partners

Mayor of Muhanga district: Yvonne Mutakwasuku

Authorities of the Southern District of Muhanga have taken measures that would prohibit development partners from choosing some certain localities to work in over others in remote areas.

This measure was revealed by the District Mayor, Yvonne Mutakwasuku following reports of locality neglect from the later.

The measures were decided by Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) in Muhanga district.

District development partners are Nongovernmental organizations and religious organizations among others and these are instrumental in helping the district to implement performance contracts in economic and social affairs.

It is said that partners fear remote areas because of bad roads and other geographic features.

To resolve the issue, it was decided that every development partner that comes to the district is presented the district’s 5 year development plan book.

After reviewing the book, the development partner is aware of what the district needs and he is told where to work from depending on the district’s needs.

Mayor Mutakwasuku says that disorganization occurs if development partners are not given the guidelines.

“It turns out to be chaotic than constructive.” she notes.
