In Police they face a team brimming with confidence after a 6-1 win over Etincelles in which Imran Nshimiyimana claimed a brace and Kipson Atuheire, Peter Kagabo, Jean d’amour Uwimana and Jacques Tuyisenge scoring with extravagant chips.

AS Kigali head coach Andrew ‘Casa’ Gasambungo, who will miss impressive midfielder Mohammed Mushimiyimana, says the game represents an ideal opportunity for his side to show their worth.

Gasambungo will also miss the services of first team players who are nursing different injuries like goalie pair of Emery Mvuyekure and Regis Ingabire, Ibrahim Itangishyaka, Eugene Habyarimana, Rodriquez Murengezi and Bodo Ndikumana who suffered a bruised leg against Gicumbi on Wednesday.

Others players who will miss this tie because of the on-going national examinations include Justin Mico, Latif Bishira, Hamidou Ndayisaba and Patrick Umwungeri among others.

“We expect a tough outing but we will do our best to respond well against Police despite missing key players,”

“We are in a strong position in the league and we have to very solid playing away from and it is important for us to win the big games,” added Gasambungo.

Coach Sam Ssimbwa said they will play AS Kigali just like they have done the past matches with an aim of winning. “AS Kigali is a strong team and on paper they are better than us since they are leading the league standings.”

“We respect them but we don’t fear them. We will play our game and hope we will win,” added Ssimbwa.

Police goes into today’s tie having drawn 1-1 against APR, beaten Rayon Sports 2-1 and Etincelles 6-0 in three of its last matches while AS Kigali won all their previous matches against Marines, AS Muhanga and Gicumbi, all recording a 1-0 win.

Second-placed Musanze will be aiming at maintaining their grip in the top-of-table affair when they tackle the Jean Baptista Kayiranga coached Gicumbi this afternoon in Musanze.
