AFTER denting Police’s on-form record by handing them a painful 3-0 defeat on Saturday in a league match at Kicukiro turf, AS Kigali head coach, Andrew ‘Casa’ Gasambungo was left a proud man.

The coach said the fighting spirit has been there since the season started adding that the players once again showed they are not push over.

He said, “Those were wonderful goals, well executed from players of pedigree. They are strikes of class from determined players and I must congratulate them for the good game.”

“My players were not intimidated by the fact that we were playing against a very physical side. I thank them because they well executed our strategy and I am excited that we are almost achieving our target though we must remain focused to finish the season positively,” added Casa.

On the other hand, Coach Sam Ssimbwa slammed his under-performing Police Chelsea side and insisted that they deserved to lose against AS Kigali.

The Cops were put to the sword by three goals from Bodo Ndikumana, Jimmy Mbaraga and Maburi Hakiri– bringing to an end their current winning record which saw them hit Etincelles 6-0, one of the heaviest victories of the season.

But speaking after the game, Ssimbwa admits his side deserved to lose. “I didn’t like the performance and I think we deserved to lose. It was total humiliation,”

“AS Kigali played good football and it was toital poor football from my side from the onset. We had a couple of good chances to score the equaliser but they were more in the game than us, they fought more than us, were much more committed than us.”

“They did much to win and for sure they were the best team on the pitch,” added Ssimbwa whose side face a tricky away fixture to Kamena against Mukura over the weekend.

AS Kigali, leads the league summit with 18 points after winning six matches and losing once since the season started in September. They have scored ten goals and conceded two. They will face new comers Esperance in the eighth round of the season on Sunday.
