Some eye-witness accounts suggest that the attackers had learnt that the deceased had withdrawn money from the bank, getting ready to purchase cattle at Busoro market. The thugs first stabbed the businessman before shooting him.

District authorities have taken up the matter and are investigating it, but no arrests have been made yet.

In 2012, a shop-keeper in Raranzige cell was attacked and his belongings looted, only for the attackers to be arrested a few days later. Such violent shootings are not been common in Nyaruguru district.
